Light burned magnesia balls are mainly used in iron and steel, non-ferrous metal smelting and other fields. The steel industry is the largest user of light burned magnesia ball, and its consumption accounts for 60%-65% of the total consumption of refractories.

In recent years, with the downstream industry enterprises to standardize procurement order, refractory market to the advantage of the transfer of enterprises, is currently a game between large-scale refractory enterprises.

Influenced by the downturn of domestic steel and other downstream industries, especially the decline in demand for refractories for infrastructure, China's refractory output was 27.971 million tons, down 4.48 percent from the same period last year.

The main downstream industries are affected by overcapacity, the contradiction between supply and demand in the market is prominent, the situation of low price and low benefit is difficult to change in the short term, and the market demand of their products has entered the peak arc zone.

With the improvement of refractory technology and performance, the consumption of refractories for unit products will be gradually reduced. The research results of the refractory Association show that the consumption of refractories per ton steel in China's iron and steel industry has dropped to 15 kg under the overall contract procurement mode, but there is still a big gap between the consumption of refractories per ton steel in China and the advanced international level.

Therefore, the domestic demand for refractories will show a general downward trend of fluctuating operation under the multiple effects of excess capacity in the domestic downstream industries and the reduction of unit refractories consumption due to technological progress.
